Drawing Snowman using Pencil Color
This exclusive real-time tutorial comes from my Drawcember Challenge, a festive month-long event where I released one drawing every other day to make sketching fun and consistent for everyone. In this lesson, we’ll create a cute Christmas snowman using colored pencils on toned paper. You’ll learn how to layer reds for the cap and muffler, build fluffy textures with grays, erasers, and bright white highlights, and shade the face with subtle pink cheeks and a carrot nose. I’ll also guide you through using black for deep contrasts, adding shine to the eyes and buttons, and blending shadows beneath the snowman for a grounded look. The process is beginner-friendly, playful, and designed to show you how small details—like erased highlights and layered dots—can bring warmth and life to your holiday drawings. And as usual, the references of this tutorial are included in the Materials section.
