    Ejercicio modulo cinco

    • Hi Erika

Nice work. It is amazing how much we learn with each new drawing. Ali’s instructions are so progressively rewarding. It allows us to be very successful by just following them.

It’s really cool, Erica for a first proper drawing, this is great. It’s totally normal to feel like it’s not finishing the way you imagined, but the people who don’t give up are the ones who truly learn and keep improving. You stayed with it, and that’s what matters most. Keep going 😊✏️

This is excellent practice, Larry 👌 When you start applying this cloth technique to portrait’s drapery, you’ll really notice how much this kind of exercise pays off over time 💪🎨✨

              Mono eraser

Can someone help me? My Mono eraser doesn’t erase anything—it just messed everything up

              • Hola me pasa igual nunca borra y lo que hace es dejarlo mal, he probado varias maneras y llegue a la conclusión que estoy aplicando el grafito con mucha presión, probaré espero me funcione 🙂

This can happen for a few reasons, and you’re absolutely right, Erika 😊 Pressure is one of the main ones. The Mono eraser works best when graphite is applied lightly and built up in layers if the pressure is too heavy, the graphite sinks into the paper and the eraser will smudge instead of lifting. Paper also matters: a bit of tooth works much…

                • Hermann, in my limited experience, id probably say there isn’t enough contrast in values. It could be because your reference photo doesn’t contain enough shadows. I always either use a reference that has the darkest value and the lightest value so I can get good contrast which helps with depth. You could always alter the ref image, by editing…

Hey Hermann, John already gave you some solid advice 👍 I’d add that you should try increasing the contrast a bit. Also, focus first on building a strong foundation get the outlines and proportions right before going deeper into shading. You’ll feel a big difference once that base is solid ✏️😊

                      • Hi all

Have been drawing for about 2 months now, can only do about one a5 drawing a week due to arthritis.

Have looked at you tube alot before I starting this course to see how things are meant to be done.

These are my pictures so far in order of doing them, honest opinions would be much appreciated.

Sorry about the quality of the photos lol.

It’s great to have you here. For just two months of drawing especially with the limitations you mentioned this is really solid progress. You’ve clearly been observing carefully and practicing with intention, and it shows in your forms and shading. Take it at your own pace and be kind to your hands; consistency matters… Read more

                          • They look good, Anthony, I too have arthritis which stopped me playing my guitar, apart from my medication before I start Drawing I fill a bowl with hot water and hold a sponge in my hand and squash under the hot water for a while it really helps it doesn’t remove the pain altogether but gives me a lot longer to draw,

                            Well done for your art.

                            • Thanks for the tip Alex i will give it a try, I too have had to retire all my guitars now, it sucks getting old

That time definitely paid off, John. The colors and expression are spot on especially for a first pastel portrait. It really doesn’t look like a “first attempt” at all 👍 It looks like you enjoy experimenting with different materials 😄 that curiosity is a big part of growing as an artist. Keep it up!
