Drawing Eye with Butterfly
Welcome to the ninth tutorial of the Drawcember Challenge! In this lesson, you’ll learn how to draw a realistic eye with a butterfly resting nearby, combining graphite shading with subtle color accents. We’ll focus on building smooth tonal layers for the skin, adding freckles and texture with both dark pencil spots and lifted highlights, and carefully shaping the iris with sharp eraser details. You’ll also practice eyelashes, eyelid shading, and blending techniques for soft gradients. The butterfly’s wings introduce a pop of blue, balanced with graphite contrasts to keep the drawing unified. References for both the outline and colors are included in the Materials section.
