Hi Ali
I have been drawing about 5 months now. I have learned so much from you. Learning anything new can be frustrating when you dont have the right tools or the knowhow to use them.
Your instructions are so complete, it makes learning to draw eazy to be sucessful. It is a great pleasure learning from you.

Beautiful work, Abbasi! 👏 It’s never about the “standard” it’s always about the effort, honesty, and growth behind each piece. And this drawing shows all of that so clearly. The calm mood, and those soft pencil transitions really make it stand out. Keep creating from the heart that’s what true art is all about 💙🎨

Drawing Community 3 months ago(Water)coloured pencils
The first two flowers are my first pieces with watercolour pencils. Paper: Arches hotpressed.
The second one was my first try on coloured pencils. This was a colouring page. I use these a lot because I want to focus on using colours and dont want to worry about drawing the lines.
I can say that I learned a lot about colour because I swatched a…

These are absolutely beautiful, Nicole! 🌺 The colors are so vibrant, and I love how clean and confident your transitions look especially for your first time using watercolor pencils. It really shows how much patience and study went into understanding the medium. The way you approached color learning through swatching and practice is exactly…

Drawing Community 3 months agoGraphite
Some of my Graphite artwork from this year. The first one is one of Ali’s tutorials. Mediums used: faber castell pitt matt – Watersoluble graphite Faber Castell.
Second one is an enlargement from a tiny piece of the famous picture ‘the boy with the cello’ from 1947.

Both pieces look wonderful, Nicole 👏 The control and tonal balance are beautiful, such a strong emotional capture. And it makes me so happy to see you applying what you learned from the tutorial so thoughtfully. You’re growing beautifully with every drawing 🎨💙

Drawing Community 3 months agoQuestion on Techniques to Prevent Graphite Shine in Realistic Drawing
Hi Ali, I hope this message finds you well.
I am passionate about realistic drawing and usually work primarily with charcoal, although I often incorporate graphite pencil for fine details. The challenge I face is that when I integrate graphite, the finished piece develops an unwanted shine, which affects both the uniformity and the…

Hi Linda, thank you for your thoughtful question and kind words! 😊 and yesss you’re absolutely right.. that unwanted graphite shine can really take away from the matte realism we aim for in hyperrealistic drawings. I tried experimenting iwth this some time ago and let me share some techniques that have worked well for me:

Hi Linda,
I like to use mediums that are convenient, because of my painful hands. And at the same time avoiding that annoying shine of dark graphite pencils.
The shine in graphite is mostly present in the dark pencils. Like Ali said, you can use Faber castell Pitt Matt. For really dark details I usually use 10B-12B-14B. The 14B always surprises…
