Drawing Hyper-Realistic Elderly Woman Portrait
In this exclusive real-time tutorial, we begin the first part of an elderly portrait study on A3 paper, using the grid method for outlines and masking tape for clean borders. I’ll guide you through building the background with graphite powder, then carefully darkening and blending the folds and wrinkles around the eyes to create depth. Using 8B pencils for shadows, perfection and mono zero erasers for fine highlights, and an electric eraser for sharp textures, we’ll shape realistic skin with pores, fine lines, and natural 3D effects. You’ll see how random textures, dots, and strokes combine to form believable wrinkles and forehead details without repetitive patterns. The process also covers eyebrows, eyelids, and under-eye bags, with techniques for layering, blending, and lifting graphite to achieve lifelike results. Special focus is given to controlling contrasts on smooth paper, avoiding common mistakes, and balancing soft shading with crisp highlights. This part ends at the cheek area, with the nose and rest of the portrait continued in the next session. References are included in the Materials section.
